Friends, I am SO excited to share this blog! When Alyssa reached out and showed me her Pinterest board for location ideas, it was filled with beautiful castles and old ruins. Such gorgeous types of places for any kind of session! I will admit, I was stumped at first as to where to find a location that would fit her vision within the Cincinnati area. If you know Ohio, you know there are not many castle locations. After some research, I found out that there WAS a castle, right in our own backyard! Okay, maybe not right in my backyard, but pretty close!
Let me introduce you to…Loveland Castle, also known as Château Laroche! (It means “Rock Castle” in French, you guys. How fun!) The owner of this castle had pulled stones from the river to build this house in the 1920s. Makeshift bricks were built from donated milk cartons when no rock were found. This castle is currently a museum and you can take a tour through the castle and learn about the owner and the building’s history! All of the workers are super friendly and hold a lot of intereseting information about the house itself as well. If you are ever in the mood for a historic field trip or showing your kiddos a real-life castle, this is the place to go! I am even told that they do Harry Potter night there sometimes!
Alyssa and Mitch – I cannot thank you two enough for driving over two and a half hours to explore this castle with me! We really lucked out with the perfect sunny and dry weather – it was pouring rain the day before!
I cannot wait until your wedding next May! In the meantime – here are a few of my favorites from your engagement session!
