Starting the New Year with a Peterloon Estate Editorial Session
Friends! I’m starting off the new year by sharing a beautiful editorial session I captured last year at the Peterloon Estate in Cincinnati, Ohio. This venue holds such a special place in my heart—it’s where I married my husband in 2022. Somehow, over the past three years, I’ve made it a tradition to return to Peterloon in one way or another, and last year I was lucky enough to experience it from the perspective of a photographer.
Being back at a venue that means so much to me always feels incredibly full-circle. Photographing here never gets old, and every visit reminds me why couples fall in love with Peterloon the moment they drive up the lane.
What Is an Editorial Wedding Session?
If you’re unfamiliar with the term editorial session, it’s a styled wedding shoot where a team of talented wedding vendors comes together to design and photograph a cohesive wedding vision. These sessions allow vendors to showcase their work while giving couples real, tangible inspiration for what’s possible on their own wedding day.
Editorial sessions are all about intentional design, elevated details, and storytelling—blending creativity with real wedding-day moments.
Why Peterloon Estate Is One of My Favorite Cincinnati Wedding Venues
Peterloon Estate is hands down one of my favorite venues to photograph in the Cincinnati area. There are so many different locations and vibes all within one property, making it incredibly versatile for weddings of any size or style.
My absolute favorite spot is the long, winding front lane framed by mature trees—it’s timeless, romantic, and stunning in every season. I also love capturing the architecture of the estate itself (the history behind it is amazing), along with the peaceful pond tucked behind the venue. No matter where you turn, there’s a beautiful backdrop waiting to be photographed.

The Vendor Team Behind This Peterloon Estate Editorial Session
The vendors involved in this editorial session were truly top-tier professionals from the Cincinnati and Dayton, Ohio areas. Many of these creatives are on my preferred vendor list, and I always love the opportunity to collaborate with people who bring such talent, professionalism, and heart to their work.
Several of these vendors—including KMC Weddings and Lost & Found Rentals—were also part of my own wedding day, which made this editorial even more meaningful for me. Be sure to scroll to the bottom of the blog for the full vendor list!
A Wedding Editorial Told in Three Chapters
I’m so excited to share images from this special day with you. This blog is definitely longer than my usual posts, but there were so many thoughtful details that narrowing down the images felt impossible—and honestly, you deserve to see them all.
This Peterloon Estate editorial session was captured in three chapters: the reception, the ceremony, and the cocktail hour lawn.
Chapter One: Reception on the Back Patio at Peterloon Estate
Back Patio Reception Design & Tablescape Details
Peterloon’s back patio makes for an absolutely stunning reception space. While the venue often features a beautiful tented setup, this design embraced the open patio and created an intimate yet elevated atmosphere.
A gorgeous king’s table anchored the space, dressed in blush and white florals and lined with a sage green tablecloth. Custom drapery columns surrounded the table, adding softness and dimension. Guest tables featured floral linens topped with vibrant yellow, blush, and white florals that truly popped against the neutral tones.
One of my favorite areas was the VIP seating tucked to the side of the patio. Bench seating layered with pillows, a blush tablecloth, dainty blush glassware, and lush florals created a cozy yet elegant space for guests. Natural wood chairs with white cushions filled the reception area beautifully, while the opposite side of the patio featured a lounge setup, cake table, and bar.
And can we talk about the cake? The white florals cascading over the sage cake were an absolute dream. Every wedding needs a lounge area—it’s the perfect place for guests to step away from the music, relax, and still feel part of the celebration.
Reception Portraits & Reception Reveal Moments
The couple chosen for this reception design was pure magic. Seriously—fire. We captured a reception reveal (which I highly recommend building into your wedding day timeline), along with portraits at the bar, cake-cutting moments, and time seated at the king’s table with their bridal party.
The bride’s dress paired with her jewelry was absolutely stunning, and every detail came together so effortlessly in this space.

Chapter Two: Ceremony at the Front of the Estate
Ceremony Design & Front of Venue Details
Now onto my favorite part of Peterloon—the front of the estate. The character, landscaping, and architecture here are unmatched. A simple and intimate ceremony setup perfectly highlighted the elegance of the space.
The front steps are ideal for elopements, intimate weddings, or even larger ceremonies. Florals lined the steps in soft peach, lavender, and white tones, creating a romantic and refined look that complemented the venue beautifully.

Ceremony Portraits
The couple at the ceremony was phenomenal. The bride wore a form-fitting lace gown that suited her perfectly, paired with loose curls swept into an updo and the most beautiful veil. The groom’s black tux was the perfect complement—classic, timeless, and sharp.
And you know me—I’ll never pass up a good veil-kissing photo. Her bouquet tied everything together seamlessly, matching the aisle florals perfectly and adding softness to every portrait.

Front Lane Portraits at Peterloon Estate
We then moved to the front lane of the estate, which remains my favorite portrait location on the property. The light here is incredible, and the scale of the venue behind the couple creates such a grand, romantic feel.
This area is perfect for walking shots, lift portraits, twirls, and classic, timeless images. It’s one of those spots that truly shows off the beauty and magnitude of Peterloon Estate.

Chapter Three: Side Lawn Cocktail Hour & Hidden Spaces
Side Lawn Cocktail Hour Design
The side lawn of the estate offers the sweetest little space for cocktail hour. A champagne bar adorned with a custom sign, a floral guest seating chart, and umbrella-dotted lawn tables created a relaxed yet elevated gathering space for guests.
This area also features a beautiful twin staircase and an elegant archway that perfectly frames portraits.
Hidden Reflection Pool & Bridal Portraits
Fun fact—walking through that archway leads to a hidden reflection pool tucked behind the estate. We couldn’t resist sneaking away for a few portraits there before ending this chapter back on the side lawn near the getting-ready windows, which made for the most stunning bridal solo portraits.
