Graduation sessions are always special, but this University of Cincinnati grad session with Elizabeth was extra meaningful. Not only is Elizabeth a sweet friend, but this session was also such a perfect example of how flexible, fun, and stress-free grad photos can be—even when Ohio weather decides to throw us a curveball.
We planned Elizabeth’s graduation session on the University of Cincinnati campus to fully embrace her school pride and capture a variety of iconic UC locations. From campus signage to the football field, this session highlighted everything that makes UC such a great spot for graduation photos. And yes—this session included sunshine, pouring rain, outfit changes, and a surprise glow at the very end.
Starting the Session with School Spirit
We kicked off Elizabeth’s UC graduation session on a bright, sunny afternoon, starting with one of my favorite looks of the entire shoot: a bold red jumpsuit. I am always a sucker for a good jumpsuit, especially for grad sessions, and this one was perfection. The red was such a strong nod to the University of Cincinnati colors and photographed beautifully against the campus backdrops.
We began near the University of Cincinnati signage, capturing classic graduation portraits that truly feel timeless. Elizabeth brought along her diploma, stoles, and cap and gown, which allowed us to mix in both polished and celebratory images right from the start. These details are always encouraged during grad sessions because they tell the full story of this milestone and give so much variety to a final gallery.
When the Weather Changed (and We Rolled with It)
As many Ohians know, spring weather can be unpredictable—and this session proved it. Not long after we wrapped up our first portion of the shoot, the skies opened up, and the rain started pouring. Instead of panicking or cutting the session short, we leaned into it.
Thankfully, there was an awning nearby that gave us just enough coverage to keep shooting while waiting for the rain to ease up. These moments often end up being my favorites, because they show real life and real joy. Elizabeth stayed relaxed, positive, and fun the entire time, which made all the difference.
One of the perks of booking a professional grad photographer is being prepared for situations like this. I always bring my travel changing tent to senior sessions, which came in handy here. It allowed Elizabeth to comfortably change outfits without worrying about finding an open building or navigating the rain.
Outfit Changes and Iconic UC Locations
Elizabeth’s second outfit—a beautiful white dress—was such a perfect contrast to her bold red jumpsuit. The lighter look paired so nicely with the soft, rainy atmosphere and gave us a completely different vibe for her portraits. Even under the awning, we were able to capture flattering, polished images that felt intentional and calm.
Once the rain slowed, we made our way to one of the most iconic locations on campus: the University of Cincinnati football field. Elizabeth changed back into her red jumpsuit for this portion, and it was such a fun way to bring the session full circle. The field gave us a bold, celebratory setting that really showcased her school pride and marked the end of such an important chapter.
Of course, Ohio’s weather had one more surprise for us. As we walked back toward the parking garage, the sun peeked out just long enough for us to grab a few final portraits. That soft post-rain glow added the perfect finishing touch to an already incredible session.
A Graduation Session to Remember
Elizabeth, you are absolutely gorgeous inside and out, and I’m so grateful I got to capture this milestone for you. Your University of Cincinnati graduation session was full of personality, flexibility, and joy—and it was such a reminder that sometimes the unexpected moments make the best memories. I cannot wait to see where life takes you next.
If you’re graduating from the University of Cincinnati or looking for a grad photographer who’s happy to travel, adapt to changing weather, and create a fun, stress-free experience, I’d love to help you celebrate this season of life.
