A Rainy Wedding Day at The Steam Plant in Dayton
I was so excited to finally photograph my own wedding at The Steam Plant in Dayton, Ohio. While I’ve second-shot here many times, capturing my own images at this venue felt extra special.
This July wedding came with rain—but The Steam Plant handled it beautifully. One of the biggest strengths of this venue is its versatility, and we leaned into that fully.
Utilizing Indoor Spaces with Intention
We made great use of:
- The attic/loft space: has incredible natural light and room for full bridal party portraits
- The grand hall: perfect for ceremonies and receptions when everything needs to be indoors
- The boiler room and bridal suites for variety and flow
After Halie & Olly’s church ceremony, the rain slowed just enough for us to capture portraits on the church steps and a few bridal party photos outside The Steam Plant during cocktail hour.
This day was a perfect example of how thoughtful planning and a flexible venue can still create a beautiful wedding experience—rain or shine.
